Orange wine, also known as Amber wine and skin-contact white wine, is a type of white wine where production is more typical of red wine techniques. The grape skins are included during fermentation and stay in contact with the juice for days or even months. (Usually white wine is fermented juice, not juice and skins.)
These techniques give the wine more texture and tannin, the best examples maintain a balance between natural white wine fruit flavours, acid and these extra tannins.
Our Orange is 100% WILD fermented on skins yet lighter in tannin than most. We grow all of the grapes on our estate and use every variety of white/grey/gris we have - Sauv Blanc, Chenin, Chardonnay, Semillon, Aligote & Pinot Grigio. All made with no fining or additions.
